Shakatak

Shakatak have enjoyed a level of success and career longevity rarely paralleled in contemporary music but then Shakatak is a particularly unusual group. Because of the nature of their music their fan base is one that is far reaching while always retaining an “underground” element. This paradox sees the band, who are known primarily for their musicality, enjoying both high “cult” status and instant recognition as a household name due to their numerous hit recordings.

For live performances the band consists of original members Bill Sharpe (keys), Jill Saward (lead voc, perc & flt), Roger Odell (drs), George Anderson (bs gtr) and Keith Winter (gtr & bvs) augmented with Jacqui Hicks (bvs & sax) or Debby Bracknell (bvs & flute) producing a musically dynamic and entertaining show from the 6 piece line-up.

Of course it’s not Busfest without our resident DJ Andeejay who will be recreating the iconic STUDIO 54 in the Severn Hall for us. Andy has been a DJ for many years and we’ve been lucky enough to not only have him perform at Busfest for a number of years but to be a valued member of our crew.

Tony’s DJ journey began back in 1996, igniting a lifelong passion for music and crowd connection. Starting out on pirate radio in London, Tony quickly made his mark on the underground scene. In 2001, Tony took his talents abroad, spending a vibrant season as a resident DJ at several of Faliraki’s most popular clubs and bars on the island of Rhodes, Greece. His dynamic sets and ability to read the crowd earned him a loyal following.

Upon returning to the UK, Tony reconnected with long-time collaborator Simon C. Together, they ran a series of successful club nights under the banner Love To Funk. The success of these nights funded the launch of their own music studio in Kent, where they began producing fresh, soulful house tracks as Love To Funk, featuring vocalist Nora Blu. Their music is available on Spotify and all major streaming platforms.

In January 2019, Tony and Simon took things to the next level by founding VDubRadio — an online radio station dedicated to showcasing quality music and supporting DJs worldwide. After four years in the making, 2023 saw Hannigan release his debut album ‘I’ll Be Home Soon’ and having returned from a 7 month Australian tour 2025 brings a new EP and a year on tour sharing it.

BUSFEST EVENING ENTERTAINMENT POLICY – Children & Dogs

Our policy at BUSFEST is to provide entertainment across a wide section of genres, for all our guests. During the day, this is not too much of a problem, but at night, things change a bit…….We have to balance a fine line between providing ‘Family’ areas, as well as having areas that guests without children (over 60% of our attendees) can ‘let their hair down’ without worrying about offending sensitive minds. Each of our Stages is designed with different sections of our customer base in mind, and below is a description so people are aware of what type of entertainment is going on at each Stage, and whether it is sensible to take children to it.

Although we are not refusing entry to children to any of the Stages, some are more suitable than others for small children. Children (under 16) must still be accompanied by an adult (over 16) at ALL adult Stages. All our customers should be aware that certain stages have behaviour that may/will upset/disturb young impressionable minds and if you have children, you should question whether it is acceptable to take a child into that type of environment. This includes acts on the stage, as well as those attending, and may include swearing, pyrotechnics, VERY loud music, offensive lyrics, nudity, violence, upsetting images, smoke machines, lasers, etc:

  • Severn Stage. Our main family Stage, with fun and frolics for all ages. (Family)
  • Sheepshed Stage. Our Rock and Alternative Stage. (Adult)
  • Chill Stage. Our laid-back chilled out Stage. (Family & DOGS)
  • Dance Stage. Our pumping dance & trance Stage. (Adult)
  • Main Street RADIO Stage. (Family)

What we are saying is:
“Any area that is designated ‘Family’ will be virtually guaranteed to be a safe environment, with customers and acts who are ‘family friendly’. Any area that is designated ‘Adult’ cannot be guaranteed to be free from adult themes and behaviour, and, as a responsible parent/carer, you should carefully consider before taking young/impressionable children into that environment”.

Dogs & Evening Entertainment Venues

We do not recommend that any dogs should be submitted to the noise and stress of the evening entertainment environments as we believe this can potentially be dangerous for your dog/s and those around them.

1. Dogs will only be permitted at outdoor entertainment zones.
2. Dogs WILL be permitted inside the BUSFEST HUB
3. Dogs are NOT permitted inside the main part of the SEVERN HALL during the evening entertainments.
